As a Sound Designer (Contract) at Stray Kite Studios, you will be working closely with the Audio Director to help craft and define the sonic identity of our world and the audio tools that will be used to help realize it on an original IP project. From conceptualizing and designing unique sounds to creating dynamic and adaptive audio systems, we know you are as deeply passionate about audio in games as we are.

This position requires the selected candidate to reside in the state of Texas and is a 12-week, part-time contract position.

Responsibilities    

  • Work closely with the Audio Director to conceive, design, prototype, iterate, validate, and implement custom-made audio assets while keeping them creatively aligned with the overall vision of our game.
  • Design and implement audio assets through animation notifies and blueprints.
  • Communicate regularly with designers, animators, and QA and support their work through audio.
  • Help with basic asset management, organization and updates.
  • Regularly playtest our game and provide both creative and technical feedback on how we can improve and enhance our game's sonic identity.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficient in audio production software (DAWs)
  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills, and able to provide and receive constructive feedback with ease and kindness
  • Able to work well individually and as part of a highly collaborative team
  • Strong proven sound design and implementation skills
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid-work environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in game audio
  • Proficient in sound theory, digital signal processes, batch processing
  • Proficient in scripting in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints and MetaSounds
  • Experience working in task-tracking software such as Jira
  • Experience with asset management and organization through Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Experience and/or interest working in magic/action sound design
