Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Sound Designer to join our team of game developers working on an AAA vehicle hero shooter. As the Lead Sound Designer, you will be responsible for crafting a unique and immersive soundscape, managing audio team and ensuring the highest quality of audio production using our custom engine and Wwise.
The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering top-tier audio experiences, has extensive experience in the shooter genre, and has contributed to shipped AAA titles. This game will be developed cross-platform: PC/Consoles.
What will you do?
- Lead the audio design and implementation for the project, ensuring a cohesive and immersive sound experience.
- Manage and mentor the audio team, setting the vision and guiding the technical and creative aspects of audio production.
- Ensure the mixing and mastering of sound for optimal gameplay experience.
- Collaborate closely with other departments (game design, animation, programming, etc.) to ensure sound enhances gameplay, environments, and vehicles.
- Lead cross-platform audio integration and implementation: PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
- Oversee the integration of audio assets using our custom engine and Wwise.
- Create and maintain an efficient pipeline for audio asset development, from concept to final implementation.
- Ensure that all audio content meets the project’s technical and creative requirements.
- Drive the creative direction of sound design, from weapon sounds to environmental effects, and dynamic in-game audio systems.
- Troubleshoot and solve audio bugs and technical issues in collaboration with programmers.
What are we looking for?
- 5+ years of experience as a sound designer, with at least 2+ years in a lead or senior role on AAA projects.
- Proven experience working on first-person/third-person shooters or action-based AAA games.
- Shipped at least 1 AAA title in the shooter genre, preferably with notable sound design work.
- Expertise with Wwise and experience integrating sound into custom game engines (or UE, Unity, etc.)
- Knowledge of adaptive audio systems and dynamic mixing.
- Understanding of spatial audio, 3D audio systems, and their implementation in games.
- Experience with cross-platform audio implementation, particularly for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide a team.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
What additional skills will help you stand out?
- Experience working with platform SDKs and tools for audio integration and debugging on PlayStation and Xbox.
- Familiarity with console certification processes (audio-specific compliance for PS and Xbox platforms)
- Experience with vehicle-based audio design (e.g., engine sounds, mechanical effects, etc.).
- Familiarity with Dolby Atmos or other surround sound technologies.
