Polyarc is searching for an experienced Audio Director who will guide and grow the Audio team while also overseeing and contributing to audio experiences across our projects.

As an Audio Director at Polyarc, you will use your creative skills and craft knowledge to enhance gameplay and build immersive experiences for our players. You will collaborate with project leaders to establish a vision and work alongside a talented team of developers to bring the team’s vision to life. You will advocate for audio at the studio, growing your team’s knowledge and craft, development process understanding, and leadership skills to best support the studio’s goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Defines a vision for the audio team at a studio level by incorporating studio goals, experience, and industry standards while encouraging team decision-making to holistically bolster development workflow and culture with this vision in mind.
  • Plans, staffs, scopes, creates, and implements in-game solutions as needed to ensure the audio team has the support it needs in all aspects of game audio development.
  • Collaborates with cross-discipline project team members to provide and incorporate feedback, build consensus on project scope, improve workflow opportunities, and shepherd project momentum.
  • Manages, coaches, and inspires audio team members to expand their considerations, grow their craft, and develop their voices to foster an inclusive and creative work environment.
  • Leverages experience, Polyarc’s values, and other’s perspectives to develop efficient audio pipelines and infrastructure to support advancing audio implementation systems and tools.
  • Works with project stakeholders and Audio leadership members to ensure Polyarc projects have clear sonic identities scoped to their audio budgets.
  • Establishes ongoing communication with project management, marketing, and finance to balance audio hardware/software needs, resource allocation, and project scoping.
  • Builds relationships with potential and existing external partners to keep informed of technological advancements and opportunities for Polyarc to grow our audio tools and skills as the gaming industry evolves.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience establishing sonic vision for and leading an audio team through all stages of game development.
  • Proven track record of creating cohesive, compelling, and original audio content and systems for games.
  • Commitment to actively incorporating feedback, generating creative opportunities, and offering a unique perspective to encourage a collaborative work environment.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team of sound designers.
  • Experience planning and delivering solutions within budget for a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance leadership responsibilities while building and integrating high-level audio content.
  • Experience working with outsourcing teams and composers.
  • Experience with Wwise and Unreal audio implementation or other comparable engines.

Pluses:

  • Experience with Reaper
  • Experience working in VR/AR/XR
  • Scripting or programming knowledge
  • Experience with audio post-production and location sound recording

Compensation:

Polyarc’s salary range for this role is $164,000 to $184,000, with a total compensation target (cash + equity) of $204,000. Any final compensation is dependent on position leveling, taking into consideration the candidate’s qualifications and experiences.  Polyarc also offers a revenue sharing plan.
